It is time to again solicit applications from Northwest College faculty for Environmental Studies grants.

 

The Pat Wolsborn Environmental Studies Endowment will be used for the following purposes:

 

1.         to subsidize new courses relevant to Environmental Studies at NWC.  These courses could be team taught and interdisciplinary in their scope.  Appropriate topics might include ecology, botany, zoology, microbiology, environmental chemistry, soils, environmental economics, environmental literature and history, environmental law or public administration (a new course must be approved by the Curriculum Committee before a grant will be awarded);

2.         to purchase equipment for monitoring environmental variables (i.e. pH meters, etc.) that would be used on field trips and in the lab component of new and ongoing environmental studies courses;

3.         to subsidize the transportation, equipment, and other needs for summer field courses in environmental studies;

4.         to subsidize student and faculty research in the environmental studies area;

5.         to purchase journals and books relevant to environmental education for the college library;

6.         to purchase computer software for environmental education courses;

7.         to pay experts on environmental issues to speak at NWC.

 

The Environmental Education Committee has monies to award for the spring, summer, and fall of 2005.  Please complete the attached application and submit this to any member of the screening (John Campbell, Allan Childs, Ron Hitchcock, Doug Nelson, Garry Wallace) by March 16, 2005.
